3 Examples of How Goose Gear Improves Overlanding
The great thing about overlanding gear is that there are so many possibilities for outfitting your vehicle to be more functional, more comfortable, and more capable. Items like rooftop tents, suspension upgrades, winches, and so forth, are great examples of this.
But that’s only part of the story…
Goose Gear is one of our favorite brands because of the sheer number of products they have for overlanding. Not only that, they make gear for vehicles of all shapes and sizes, so no matter what your overlanding ride of choice might be, you can upfit it with Goose Gear products.
Goose Gear Ultimate Chef and Sleep Package
Let’s say your overlanding vehicle of choice is a Subaru Outback. Between the cavernous interior space, AWD capabilities, and excellent fuel economy, it’s a solid choice for your camping needs.
But with a Goose Gear Ultimate Chef and Sleep Package, you can elevate the functionality of your Outback to another level entirely…
This package comes with a host of accessories that allow you to customize the system to best fit your needs. For example, you can choose from rear plate systems with 7-inch, 9-inch, or 11-inch-high modules.
You can also choose from several module styles:
- Passenger side
- Open-face utility
- Utility module with top hatch
- Single drawer module
You have the option of choosing from a number of different fridge slides, too. For example, you can add a fridge slide by itself to the open-face utility module or opt for a slide with a cutting board in the same space. Alternatively, you can add the slide to a utility module with a top hatch (again, with the option of including a cutting board). Or, put the fridge slide in a single drawer module, with or without a cutting board. It’s up to you! But, remember this is the Ultimate Chef and Sleep Package…
The sleep platform is placed on the passenger side of the car and accounts for 60 percent of the rear cargo space. This gives you enough room to crash for the night with space to stretch out, but without taking over the entire rear of the vehicle.
An efficient use of space is exactly what you want when you’re overlanding, especially when you’re car camping. With your vehicle serving as your sleeping space, storage area, and kitchen all at the same time, maximizing the space with Goose Gear just makes sense!
Goose Gear Brian’s Favorite XL Package
Now let’s assume your overlanding vehicle of choice is a Toyota 4Runner. With more space, more ground clearance, and more power than an Outback, it’s a great option if your overlanding treks take you off the pavement and onto difficult off-road trails. And with Goose Gear, you can make the most of the backend of the 4Runner with Brian’s Favorite XL Package…
As you can see in the images above and below, this package offers a complete camping solution for your 4Runner. It starts with a rear plate system that serves as the base for the other components in the package. Its flat surface allows you to install and remove other Goose Gear modules as needed, all with basic hand tools.
This particular package includes Goose Gear’s CampKitchen 2.4, which offers slides for your fridge and your stove. This double-slide design allows you to open your fridge or stove independently or at the same time. As an added bonus, the CampKitchen accommodates a fridge up to 18"w x 29-1/2"d x 22"H, so you can bring more food along for extended trips.
You also get a single-drawer module with this package. The drawer is 19-3/16"W x 10"H x 36"D, giving you an ideal spot to store larger items out of the way, like pots, pans, and other kitchen essentials. But because this is Goose Gear, the functionality doesn’t end there…
With a Fitted Top Plate, you get a flat surface on top of the drawer for storing additional items (or perhaps you can use it as a sleeping platform if you don’t have a rooftop tent). The top plate has an access hatch for yet more storage underneath, furthering your ability to organize your gear and keep your sanity on your trips!
Again, you can see how Goose Gear puts thought and effort into its systems, which makes overlanding so much better. Your gear is easy to access, securely stored, and organized - what’s not to like?!
Goose Gear Alu-Cab Alu-Cabin Bed Plate System
If you prefer to go overlanding in a compact or full-size truck, you can reap the benefits of the ultimate in power and space. A truck bed is rife with possibilities for your gear and offers options for cooking, sleeping, and lounging, too.
With a Goose Gear Alu-Cab Alu-Cabin Bed Plate System, you can lay the foundation for one heck of an adventure vehicle. The system shown above and below is installed in a 5th-generation RAM 2500, but Goose Gear offers these plates for all sorts of other trucks, including, but not limited to:
- Toyota Tacoma
- Toyota Tundra
- Jeep Gladiator
- Ford F-150
- Ford Ranger
- Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon
- Chevy Silverado
In each case, the bed plate system - which is made of industrial-grade plywood and coated using Goose Gear’s proprietary spray methods for the ultimate in durability - is attached by drilling into the bed. This is necessary to ensure its installation and the installation of other Goose Gear modules is safe and secure.
Once installed, you can add or remove Alu-Cabin components as needed. As you’d expect, Goose Gear has a lot of components you can add separately, too (shown below):
- Drivers Front Utility Module
- Driver Middle Utility Module
- Drivers Rear Utility Module OR Double Drawer Module
- Bulkhead Single Drawer Module
- Passenger Front Utility Module
- Passenger Middle Utility Module
- Passenger Rear Utility Module OR Double D
If you’re a truck guy or gal, having options like these for expanding the utility of the truck bed for overlanding is fantastic. You can build the ultimate overlanding rig with everything you need right there on your truck. This type of bed system will make it so much easier when you’re itching to hit the road at a moment’s notice to get your camp on.
